Technossus Once Again Honored with Top Prize at the 2014 MoDev Hackathon at CES in Las Vegas
Las Vegas, NV – Technossus is two for two, once again taking home the top prize at the second annual CEA MoDev Hackathon at the 2014 International CES in Las Vegas – on the heels of their first Hackathon win at the first CES event in 2013. This year’s Hackathon, which took place January 7 at the Venetian Hotel, featured over 30 teams from around the world tasked with creating an iOS, Android or Windows-based mobile application from scratch in just eight hours.
This year, primary sponsor the Travel Channel awarded the top prize to the app that best complements, improves or extends the Travel Channel Cities app. The Technossus team of Jay Esquerra, Kevin Castle, Harrison Spain and Chris Woolum won the top prize of over $20,000 for their entry “Journey Together”, a Windows 8 tablet application that enables users to share travel and trip information on their social networks, along with information from other sources of travel data such as Yelp, Trip Advisor and Travel Channel Cities, to create a shared, dynamic itinerary. Summing up the event, Technossus CTO Kevin Castle said, “Our ongoing involvement in the MoDev Hackathon competition and participating at CES has been a terrific way to promote the growth of new technologies like mobile and wireless, and to showcase Technossus’ significant capabilities in these areas.”
